How to Easily Create a Structure

Hello everyone, I'm Marco from Fenceshop, and today we will show you how to DIY a structure using pipes and clamps. This type of product might seem outside our usual range, but it is incredibly versatile and useful for a wide variety of applications. Let's see together how to use it best.

Why We Deal with Pipes and Clamps

We started dealing with pipes and clamps for their versatility. In the photo next to it, you can see a sports field with a structure made of pipes and clamps, painted blue and covered with compact polycarbonate. This structure is an example of how these materials can be used in sports, residential, and industrial contexts.

Technical Characteristics

Our pipes are made of hot-dip galvanized iron, with a thickness of two millimeters, to ensure resistance to rust. The clamps, on the other hand, are treated with electrolytic galvanization, which offers lower protection compared to the pipes but still adequate for many applications. The clamps are composed of two halves, held together by bolts and nuts, with a socket for closing them with an Allen wrench.

Here at Fenceshop, we offer three pipe diameters: 33 mm, 48 mm, and 60 mm. The available clamps are compatible with these diameters, and we offer various shapes, such as T-joints, cross-joints, and elbow joints.

Uses for Pipes and Clamps

These materials are extremely versatile and can be used in various contexts:

  • Residential: roofs, pergolas, greenhouses.
  • Industrial: mezzanines, shelving for equipment and materials.
  • Agricultural: greenhouses, warehouse dividers.
How to Lay the Materials

When you purchase materials from us, the pipes will arrive already cut to predefined sizes, with steps of about 25 cm. You can still cut them further at home with a hacksaw or a disc cutter. The clamps will arrive disassembled, composed of two parts to assemble with galvanized bolts.

The assembly is simple: insert the clamp into the pipe, tighten with the bolt and square nut to prevent it from turning. The grip is strong and ensures a robust structure.

Practical Tips

If the diameter of your pipe does not exactly match that of the clamps, you can use spacers to adapt it. For example, if you have a 45 mm pipe instead of a 48 mm one, you can insert pieces of wood for spacing.

To create a sloped roof, you can use two offset T-clamps to achieve the desired slope. Additionally, we offer pipe caps to prevent insects like wasps from nesting inside and to give your structure a more finished look.
