How to Install a Fence (Beginner/DIY Level)

We at Fenceshop are pleased to offer you a simple and practical guide for installing a fence, ideal for DIY enthusiasts looking to enhance the security and aesthetics of their outdoor space. Follow these steps to achieve professional results even if you're a beginner.

Materials and Tools Required

Before you start, it's important to have all the materials and tools ready. Here's what you'll need:

  • Fence mesh (e.g., Stilplax, Vortek, Bahia)
  • Support posts
  • Brace arms (e.g., Saetta or Tubolinea)
  • Brace arm collars (e.g., Brace Arm Collar Tubolinea)
  • Tension wire
  • Clamps and screws
  • Level
  • Measuring tape
  • Wire cutters (Wire Cutters Hit)
  • Hammer
  • Shovel and pickaxe
Step 1: Preparing the Ground

First of all, measure the area where you wish to install the fence. Use a measuring tape to precisely mark the points where the support posts will be placed. Ensure the ground is level and free of obstacles.

Step 2: Installing the Support Posts

Dig holes about 50 cm deep at the previously marked points. Insert the support posts into the holes and fill them with cement for greater stability. Use a level to ensure that the posts are perfectly vertical. Allow the cement to dry for at least 24 hours.

Step 3: Attaching the Tension Wire

Once the posts are firmly in place, start attaching the tension wire. This step is crucial to keep the fence mesh taut and stable. Attach the tension wire to the base and top of the posts using clamps and screws. Ensure the wire is tight and parallel to the ground.

Step 4: Installing the Fence Mesh

Now it's time to install the fence mesh. Unroll the mesh along the tension wire and attach one end to the first post using clamps and screws. Continue attaching the mesh along the tension wire, ensuring it is taut. Use wire cutters to cut the mesh to the desired length.

Step 5: Installing the Brace Arms

To provide additional stability to your fence, install diagonal brace arms between the support posts and the ground. Attach the brace arms to the posts using brace arm collars and make sure they are secure.

Step 6: Final Check and Finish

Once the installation is complete, check that the fence is taut and stable. Make any necessary adjustments and trim the edges of the mesh for a cleaner, more professional finish.

By following these simple steps, you can install a fence effectively and safely. If you need further information or assistance, do not hesitate to contact us. We at Fenceshop are always at your disposal to offer the best support and quality products for your fencing needs.
