TITLE: T-posts with plate... do they exist or not?

Hello everyone, we are the Fenceshop team and today we want to address a question we are often asked: why don't post manufacturers produce a T-fence post with the plate already welded? In this article, we will show you an all-Italian way to solve this problem.

If you need to anchor a T-post to a wall to create a fence, there are three main solutions you can consider:

  • Purchase a plug-in plate for a T-post and then insert the post into the plate. We have already made a video on this topic, which you can find linked in the description.

  • Use a metal plate, anchor it, and then weld the post onto the plate on-site. This method requires some practice and welding skills.

  • Opt for our T-posts with pre-welded plates. This is the solution we have developed to simplify the process.

Let's now look in detail at the technical characteristics of our T-posts with welded plates:

  • The posts can have two sections: 30x30 mm or 35x35 mm, depending on the height. The available heights are 1 meter, 1.25 meters, 1.50 meters, 1.75 meters, and 2 meters, specifically designed to support meshes.

  • At the base of the post, there is a rectangular plate with dimensions of 160 mm x 60 mm and a thickness of 8 mm. The plate is equipped with two holes with a 12 mm diameter, which accommodate 8 mm or 10 mm anchors.

  • The welding is done with continuous wire in our in-house carpentry and is retouched by brush with synthetic enamel in green, gray, or zinc colors.

Installing such a post is very simple. Here's how to do it:

  1. Position the post on the wall and align it with a level.

  2. Align all the posts by pulling a line on the wall, keeping a distance of about 2 meters between the posts.

  3. Anchor the posts and then adjust them with a level. To do this, you can tighten or loosen the anchors, or add metal washers under the plate to level any imperfections.

An important aspect to consider is the natural bending of the post, which can be adjusted by slightly pulling it in the desired direction. Additionally, the plate is welded in such a way that it can support the pressure of the mesh.

If the wall is not wide enough, you can turn the plate 90 degrees. However, this solution does not guarantee the same sturdiness.

The brush-touched welding is a delicate point that might rust over time. However, this is the simplest, most economical, and fastest method available. If necessary, the painting can be retouched with a bit of brush paint.

Our plate has two holes because we have found that this is the right compromise between sturdiness and ease of installation. Plates with three or four holes can cause difficulty in keeping the post level.

Finally, when we offer our posts on our e-commerce, we already calculate the height of the post so that the last hole is about 3 cm from the plate, to prevent the mesh from coming into direct contact with the wall.
