Finally, Well-Painted Fence Posts with Plates!

Hello everyone, I'm Marco from Fenceshop, your trusted e-commerce for all things related to fences. Today, we want to talk about a new development that will significantly improve our T-posts with anchoring plates. We have decided to change the painting method to offer you a superior quality product.

The old painting method

In the past, we purchased T-posts already painted green from our supplier. We then welded a raw iron plate with two holes to the base of the post. This welding was then manually retouched with synthetic enamel applied with a brush. While effective, this method had some limitations. The brush painting tended to deteriorate over time, especially at critical points like the plate edges and welds. This could cause rust formation, compromising the product's aesthetics and durability.

The new painting method

Now, after various attempts and trials, we have decided to adopt industrial polyester powder coating with oven baking. This new method offers numerous advantages:

  • Durability and Resistance: Powder coating is much more durable and resistant compared to brush painting. It offers better protection against rust and weather conditions.
  • Aesthetic Quality: The final product will have a more uniform and professional finish, without the imperfections that can come from manual painting.
  • Packaging and Shipping: Powder coating is 100% dry, eliminating the issues of fresh drips that could occur with the previous method. This ensures the product arrives to the customer in perfect condition.
Possible disadvantages

Being honest with our customers is essential. There are two main disadvantages to consider:

  • Price: The cost of the product will be slightly higher because industrial powder coating is more expensive and involves double treatment for the already painted post.
  • Delivery times: Production and delivery times may be slightly extended, going from 10-15 days to about three weeks. This is due to the industrial coating cycles which require more time.
Limitations of the new method

Another important consideration concerns galvanized posts. Unfortunately, we cannot apply this new painting method to galvanized posts, as technically they cannot be re-immersed in zinc baths. Therefore, galvanized posts will remain unchanged compared to the past.
