Overplax Mesh: Not the Toughest but Almost...

Hello everyone, we are Marco from Fenceshop, the e-commerce by Rete Plastic. Today we will talk about the welded mesh Overplax, the younger sister of the toughest welded mesh available. This mesh is produced by Cavatorta, a company that has long created the very robust Stilplax mesh. If you are curious, you can find a video dedicated to Stilplax on our channel.

But let’s get back to our Overplax. This mesh is notable for its wire diameter while maintaining significant robustness. Let’s look at its main features together.

Technical Features
  • Name: Overplax
  • Mesh: 50x50 mm, square mesh
  • Wires: Smooth vertical and wavy horizontal, with three top and three bottom reinforcing wires
  • Material: Hot-dip galvanized wire and plastic-coated green
  • Warranty: 10 years under usual usage situations
  • Format: Rolls of 25 meters, with the possibility of cutting by meter on Fenceshop
  • Heights: 1 meter, 1.20 m, 1.50 m, 1.80 m, and 2 meters

An important note concerns the top spikes: the heights of 1 meter and 1.20 meters do not have spikes, while those of 1.50 meters, 1.80 meters, and 2 meters have spikes of 3 centimeters. If you don’t like these spikes, you can always flip the mesh upside down.

Uses of Overplax Mesh

The Overplax mesh is versatile and suitable for various contexts:

The installation of Overplax mesh is not easy and requires some experience. On a scale of 1 to 5, we rate the difficulty between 4 and 5. The mesh is robust and heavy: a 2-meter roll, 25 meters long, weighs 71 kg. We recommend using sturdy posts, preferably round, to adequately support the mesh. Once installed and properly stretched, the mesh offers an excellent visual effect.

We discourage the use of Overplax mesh in very steep wooded areas, as the rigidity of the mesh makes it difficult to adapt to frequent directional changes without good manual skills.

Comparison with Other Meshes

To give you a clear idea of the differences, here’s a comparison of wire diameters:

  • Stilplax: Outer wire 3.3 mm, inner wire 2.7 mm
  • Overplax: Outer wire 2.8 mm, inner wire 2.3 mm
