5 disadvantages of a fence with panels

Hello everyone, I am Marco from Fenceshop, the e-commerce of Rete Plastic. In this video, we will talk about the five disadvantages of a fence with panels. We have already covered the advantages of this type of fence in another video, but it is equally important to know the disadvantages as well. Here are the main points to consider.

1. Price

The first disadvantage is undoubtedly the price. A fence with panels can cost about two and a half times, if not three times, more than a classic fence with rolls. This is a crucial aspect to consider, especially if you have a limited budget. We have delved into the various price ranges in another video, the link of which is available in the description.

2. Installation difficulty in sloping areas

The second disadvantage concerns the difficulty of installation in sloping areas. On terrains with significant slopes, such as 45 degrees in the middle of a forest, it is almost impossible to install a rigid panel fence. Even on a slightly sloping wall, you will have to plan to build your fence in steps, which can be complicated and costly.

3. Constraint of installation spacings

The third disadvantage is the constraint of installation spacings. The panels are generally two or two and a half meters long, depending on the manufacturer, and are not available in other sizes. This means that you will have to cut the panels to fit your needs, somewhat like you do with floor tiles. This can be inconvenient, especially in situations with many direction changes or interruptions.

4. Not suitable for soccer fields

The fourth disadvantage is that panel fences are not suitable for use in soccer fields. Soccer fields are highly stressed by balls and players, and even the sturdiest fences can become detached due to vibrations. Additionally, these fences are more expensive and deteriorate more quickly over time. Another point to consider is that, although it is more difficult to cut a panel with pliers compared to a mesh, it does not offer significant protection against thieves.

5. Transportation and handling of materials

The fifth and final disadvantage concerns the transportation and handling of materials. The two by two meter panels are bulky and difficult to transport compared to traditional rolled fence material and posts. This is an aspect to keep in mind, especially if you have to move the material over long distances or in tight spaces.

In conclusion, panel fences remain an excellent solution, but it is important to consider these disadvantages before proceeding with the purchase. Always evaluate what you need the fence for and where it will be installed. If you have any questions or comments, we will be happy to answer them.
