Windbreak Mesh. Does it really work?

Hello everyone, we are the Fenceshop team, and today we want to talk about windbreak mesh. I must admit that initially, I was a bit skeptical about the effectiveness of these meshes, but after testing with a fan, I must say they really work. Let's discover together all the features of this mesh.

Technical characteristics of the windbreak mesh

The mesh in question is produced by Tenax, and the model is called Mistral. It is made of HDPE, which means high-density polyethylene, with non-toxic and recyclable polymers. The mesh's weave is very tight, with rectangles of 11x3 mm alternating with squares of 1x1 mm. This structure guarantees excellent wind protection.

The Mistral mesh is also UV protected, meaning that the color and shape remain unchanged over time. The company guarantees the product for a good 5 years. It is available in two colors: green and silver. The height is one meter, while the format is in rolls of 30 linear meters. For those who do not need the entire roll, we also offer a convenient cut-to-meter option.

Uses of the windbreak mesh

This mesh is ideal for those who need more privacy or protection from the wind. The main uses are residential, such as on balconies, terraces, or gardens. It is perfect for those who want to create a more sheltered and intimate environment in the outdoor areas of their home.

Installation of the windbreak mesh

The installation of the Mistral mesh is simple. However, it is important to note that the very tight weave might not allow the passage of all the fix-ties. Therefore, make sure that the fix-ties are sufficiently small, not exceeding 11 mm, to be able to secure the mesh. Another fastening method is the use of binding wire, available in green or gray.

In terms of installation difficulty, we rate this mesh a 2 on a scale of 1 to 5. It is robust but can be easily cut with simple household scissors, making it shapeable according to your needs.

Final considerations on the windbreak mesh

An additional aspect to consider is the possibility of fixing the mesh on wooden structures using staples, which are U-shaped nails. Moreover, the mesh can also be used as protection for leaves and dirt that might end up in drains.

Regarding fire resistance, we will make a specific video to identify the various fire classification categories. However, I can tell you that you can modify the shape of the mesh slightly by heating it with a lighter or a paint stripper.
