In our online store you'll find everything you need for fencing and the garden: chainwire fencing, wire mesh, posts and stays, gates, shading net, plastic meshes, accessories, synthetic lawns, sports equipment.

When choosing a welded mesh panel fence, many systems may look very similar. In practice, however, the differences are often found in the posts and, above all, in the way the panels are attached.

The Ferro Bulloni Medium panel system offers a good balance between strength and affordability, with an additional advantage: its adjustable fixing system makes installation easier when dealing with changes in level, stepped fencing or corners.

In the video on the Rete Plastic YouTube channel, we take a closer look at the individual components and explain how the different fixing systems work.

Medium panel specifications

Each panel has a standard length of 2 metres and a 50x200 mm mesh. The wire is nominally classified as 5 mm, although its actual diameter is approximately 4.7 mm, providing a good level of rigidity for residential, commercial and industrial applications.

The panels are galvanized and plastic coated and are available in green or dark anthracite grey.

Five heights are available:

  • 102 cm
  • 122 cm
  • 142 cm
  • 172 cm
  • 192 cm

One edge features approximately 30 mm projecting tips. If a completely straight upper edge is preferred, the panel can simply be installed the other way round.

50x50 mm posts with base plates

The system uses 50x50 mm posts with a 1.5 mm wall thickness, galvanized and plastic coated to match the panels.

Each post has a 140x60x8 mm base plate with two 13x24 mm slots for anchor fixing and a plastic cap at the top.

An important feature is that there are no pre-drilled holes or fixed panel attachment points. This gives greater freedom when positioning the panels and is one of the main advantages of the system.

Two different fixing systems

The first option uses black polypropylene fittings that can be positioned where required and secured with the supplied self-drilling, self-tapping screw. Installation is straightforward using a drill driver with a 10 mm socket.

The second option consists of metal collars. Intermediate collars are used where two panels meet at the same post, while terminal collars are designed for the final post.

Once the correct position has been selected, the collar is secured using the two supplied 13 mm stainless-steel nuts.

Why adjustable collars make installation easier

The collars can be moved along the entire height of the post, allowing each panel to be positioned independently.

This is particularly useful when creating stepped fencing on sloping ground or walls. Instead of being restricted by predetermined fixing holes, the installer can move the panel vertically and secure it exactly where required.

The system also provides some adjustment of the distance between posts and makes it possible to create corners of up to 90° without additional work on the post.

Where can Medium panel fencing be used?

This system is particularly suitable for residential, commercial and industrial fencing, including gardens, houses, apartment buildings, companies and production areas.

We would not recommend it as the first choice for sports facilities, where repeated ball impacts normally require more suitable systems such as heavy-duty chain-link fencing.

Installation difficulty is approximately 3 out of 5, especially when the posts are anchored onto an existing concrete wall. Installation in concrete requires more care to maintain the correct post spacing and alignment.

The panels are also positioned centrally on the posts, creating a balanced appearance on both sides of the fence.
