How to Unroll a Mesh on Sloped Terrain

Welcome everyone, I'm Marco from Fenceshop, your trusted partner for everything related to fences. In this video, we will guide you through the process of unrolling a mesh on sloped terrain, an operation that may seem complex but becomes manageable with the right tips. This tutorial was born thanks to a suggestion from one of our subscribers, and we invite you to keep sending us your inputs for future videos. We are here to help you solve your specific needs in the world of fences.

Preparation and Transport of Materials

The first crucial step is transporting the materials to the installation site. Imagine having to work in a forest or on a very steep slope: just bringing the mesh roll to the spot is a challenge. The rolls can weigh between 50 and 100 kg, so it is advisable to have two or three people to help with the transport. Once the material is on site, the real challenge is to unroll the mesh effectively without complications.

Unrolling the Mesh

Once the roll is brought to the place, it's important to unroll the mesh before beginning the installation. If possible, try to unroll the original roll to prevent the mesh, especially the chain link mesh, from snagging and making the process more complex. The original packaging is designed to minimize volume during transport, but unrolling it before starting will ease your work. It's essential that at least two people collaborate: one holds the roll, while the other pulls the mesh.

The process involves one person lifting and lightening the roll while the other pulls the mesh forward. This synchronized movement allows for smooth mesh laying. As the roll lightens, the work becomes easier. However, if you have many rolls to lay, consider cutting them in half to make them easier to handle.

Fixing the Mesh

Once unrolled, the mesh must be fixed to the already positioned posts and tension wires. Ensure that the mesh is securely attached to the first tension wire to guarantee stability and security. Continue unrolling and fixing the mesh until the entire desired area is covered.

Practical Tips

When working on a slope, the person holding the roll should be positioned at the high end, while the person unrolling the mesh should be at the low end. This facilitates the unrolling process and reduces the effort needed to lift the mesh. Always remember to work calmly and safely, and if you have doubts, do not hesitate to ask for help.
