How to Install a Vortek Extension on Fence Posts

Hello everyone! Today, we at Fenceshop want to share with you a detailed tutorial on how to mount a Vortek extension on fence posts. This video is part of our "From Saying to Doing" series, where we focus on practical guides to assist you in your DIY fence projects. Let's get started!

Introduction to the Vortek Extension

The Vortek series extensions are designed to fit classic fence posts, like the TR posts. They are available in different configurations: inclined, straight, and adjustable. These extensions are compatible with posts measuring 35x35 mm and 30x30 mm, although they are optimized for the former. Today we'll see how to mount an extension on a TR35 post and discover some surprises along the way.

Necessary Materials and Tools

Each Vortek extension comes with two nuts and two bolts. The bolts are sized 8x25 mm, while the nuts are flanged for greater stability. Be sure to have a 13 mm wrench at hand for the assembly.

Installation Procedure

  • Preparing the Bolts: Join the nuts and bolts, ensuring that the flange of the nut is opposite the bolt head. This ensures correct pressure during fastening.
  • Inserting the Extension: The extension has hexagonal inserts that house the nut head. Insert the extension onto the TR35 post, following the profile of the post.
  • Securement: Once positioned, turn the bolts to secure the extension to the post. A slight turn with a 13 mm wrench will suffice to ensure a secure mounting.

Compatibility with TR30 Posts

Many ask us if the Vortek extensions can be mounted on posts measuring 30x30 mm. The answer is yes! Although the extension is designed for TR35 posts, it can fit the TR30 with some adjustment. It is important to be aware that, although possible, the extension may be slightly less stable.

Mounting on Already Installed Fences

If you already have a fence installed, don't worry: it is possible to add a Vortek extension in this case as well. However, it may be necessary to free the first two tie points of the mesh, especially if it is a welded mesh. If you instead have a chain link mesh, unhook it momentarily to facilitate the mounting of the extension.

Conclusion

Mounting a Vortek extension on your fence posts is a simple operation but requires attention to detail. We hope this guide has been useful and we invite you to visit our Fenceshop website to discover all our products. Thank you for following us and see you in the next video tutorial!
